GCHS Orchestra Students Advance To State Competition

Garden City High School orchestra students traveled to Dodge City High School for regional solo and ensemble contest on Saturday, April 8, 2017.  There were 32 entries in the competition with 31 solos and one ensemble.  Fourteen soloists along with the ensemble have advanced to state competition that will take place in Topeka, Kansas on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

The GCHS orchestra students that received a “I” rating and are advancing to state include: Emily Arrieta, violin, Carson Linenberger, violin, Zack McVey, violin, Camelot Ferrera, cello, Caitlyn Harman, violin, Tyrel Haynes, viola, Tia Dunsworth, bass, Jade Valdez, violin, Brandon Smith, cello, (accompanied on piano by Bernard Altamirano), Carole Galia, violin, Dulce Perez, violin, Ruby Solorzano, cello, Haley Daugaard, cello, Mary Niere, violin, and Cello Quintet: Haley Daugaard, Ruby Solorzano, Daniel Carrasco, Brenda Douglas, and Brandon Smith.
