GCHS Band Students Advance To State Competition

Garden City High School band students traveled to Dodge City for Regional Solo/Ensemble contest on Saturday, April 8, 2017.  Eleven solos and two ensembles advanced to the state competition that will be held at Topeka, Kansas on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

The GCHS band soloists that received a “I” rating and are advancing to state competition. They include: Baylee Almos, baritone saxophone, Zach George, trombone, Dhru Marwaha, flute, Jared Berry, percussion, Caden Strawder, tenor saxophone, Diana Martinez, flute, Daniel Castro, percussion, Elizabeth Unruh, clarinet, Beatriz Alvarado, alto saxophone, Andy Su, trumpet, and Corrine Bergstrom, clarinet.

The following ensembles received a “I” rating and are advancing to state competition.

Percussion Ensemble: Antonio Vargas, Jared Berry, Andrew Baker, Perla Camerena, Ryan Berry, Miguel Soltero, Dusty Kelley, Dade Horney, and Maggie Ibarra.

Brass Choir: Jonathan Ochampaugh, Andy Su, Caleb Rude, Kris Henderson, Drew Unruh, Emily Unruh, Junior Rivas, Carlos Bluvan, Carina Riva, Zach George, Aaron Schafer, Tyler Cloud, Noah Ulrich, Colten May, Jhamel Transfiguracion, Antonio Vargas, Dusty Kelley, Perla Camerena, and Jared Berry.

The GCHS band director is Lyle Sobba; assistant director is Makenzi Johnson.
