Awareness & Prevention Classes for Youth About Nicotine and Cannabis

Garden City USD 457 is offering two classes on Saturday, February 18 on information and facts about nicotine and cannabis. These classes are for students in seventh grade through high school.

The morning class will be held from 8:00 – 11:30 a.m. on the Intervention for Nicotine Dependence: Education, Prevention, Tobacco and Health (INDEPTH).  The INDEPTH course teaches students about nicotine dependence, establishing healthy alternatives and how to make the change to be free of all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes/vaping.

The afternoon class will be on Cannabis 101: Awareness and prevention from 12:30 – 4:00 p.m. The program teaches students about cannabis, including THC vapes.  The class provides information about the impact of cannabis on the brain and establishing healthy alternatives instead of using cannabis.
