The Garden City High School Drama Department was nominated for 11 Jester Awards and 18 regional nominations for their recent musical production of "Jekyll and Hyde". The music Theater of Wichita Jesters Awards Ceremony will be held on May 7th at Century II in Wichita.
GCHS Drama students will perform during the awards ceremony for being nominated in Overall Production. Hayley Loya (Lucy Harris) and Ryan Pilosof (Jekyll/Hyde) will perform in a medley of lead actor nominees. Hayley and Ryan will also compete for scholarships provided by the Music Theater of Wichita as will Shea Huber who served as stage manager/technical director for student achievement in technical theater.

The Jester Awards showcases the next generation of musical theatre talent in Kansas. Each year, trained volunteer judges attend and evaluate dozens of performances. This year, 59 judges viewed 143 performances of 49 productions, involving more than 3,000 students and 50 schools across the state of Kansas. The program began in Wichita, but now extends as far as Liberal, Hays, Salina, and Pittsburg, in addition to the greater Wichita area.
Tickets to the ceremony are $15 and available in advance (online only) or at the door. The Jester Awards is sponsored by the Naftzger Fund for the Fine Arts and the Lois K. Walls Jester Fund at MTWichita.
