Garden City Public Schools

Garden City Public Schools Board of Education met on Monday, July 8, 2024.  The meeting was held at the Educational Support Center Board Room, 1205 Fleming Street.

The board elected Randy Ralston as president and Andy Fahrmeier as vice president for the 2024-25 school year as part of the board’s annual reorganization. The other Board of Education members include: Robin Bergkamp, Jackie Gigot, Nathan Haeck, Mark Hinde, and John Wiese. They also set dates and times for the Board of Education meetings during the upcoming school year.

Under new business the Board approved the purchase of Cisco Webex Cloud Calling telephone service from Logicalis for $536,906.95. Purchase of the backend server for the SWC mass communication project from Lenovo for $22.593.00. Capturing Kids' Hearts for $26,650.00. Ratification of the Negotiated Agreement for the 2024-25 school year. Renewal of Workers Compensation Insurance for Fiscal Year 25, RAS, for $307,939.00. Approved the intent to exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR) for Fiscal Year 25. Purchase of dual-facing cameras for Transportation from Samsara, Inc. for $44,570.60. There was discussion by the Board on the Property and Casualty Insurance.

The board approved the following items during the meeting.  They include: Minutes of the June 20 meeting; The Board of Education Standards; revised Board Policy CCA Organizational Chart; Classified Handbook and Administration Handbook; approved the Kansas State Department of Education Child Nutrition and Wellness 2025 Program Agreement and approved the Annual Reorganization of the Board of Education.

The next meeting of the Board of Education will be Monday, July 22, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming Street.
