The Garden City High School radio station KBFZ-LP 101.7 FM has enhanced its radio listening format for the 2024-25 school year. The music format for the station has been all 1980's music since it started broadcasting on August 3, 2015. Starting this school year, the radio station is now playing 80's and 90’s music around the clock.
KBFZ-LP 101.7 FM is a student run radio station at Garden City High School. The station showcases the abilities of the students at the school as they deliver USD 457 district news, sports, and information to the community.
Garden City High School is the only high school in the state of Kansas to operate its own Low Power FM radio station. The station has 100 watts of power, which reaches an eight-mile radius out into the community from the high school where the antenna for the radio station is based.
