Garden City Public Schools Board of Education met during a regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, December 19, 2024. The meeting was held at the Educational Support Center Board Room, 1205 Fleming Street.
The Board approved the following items during the meeting. They include minutes of the December 2, 2024, regular meeting. Accounts Payable with all major accounts containing adequate balances to meet current obligations. Personnel certified and classified actions. New courses from the Curriculum Council: GCCC CompTIA Security+; GCCC CJ Interviewing and Report Writing; Agriculture Leadership and Communications; Eclectic String Orchestra; GCCC General Biology; GCCC Biology I; GCCC Biology II; GCCC Certified Medication Aide; GCCC Phlebotomy; GCCC Contemporary Mathematics; GCCC Anatomy and Physiology; and GCCC Anatomy and Physiology I.
Under unfinished business, the Board held discussion and approved renewal of the insurance policy for the school district.
Under new business, the Board approved a contract between Garden City High School and Inky Johnson - Keynote Speaker for $30,000.00.
The Board held two executive sessions after the completion of all other business. The first executive session was for preliminary discussion relating to the acquisition of real property. No action was taken after the executive session. The second executive session was for personnel matters for non-elected personnel. The Board approved two resolutions after the executive session.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education will be Monday, January 6, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming Street.
