Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Garden City Public Schools Board of Education held a special meeting at 5:15 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and vote on a candidate for the position of Superintendent of Schools.
Vice-President, Andy Fahrmeier made a motion to hire Dr. Terry McCarty as the new Superintendent of Schools. Robin Bergkamp seconded the motion. The board unanimously accepted Dr. McCarty as the new Superintendent of Garden City Public Schools. Dr. McCarty will be the superintendent of the district starting 2025-2026 school year.
Randy Ralston, Board President, thanked the community leaders, district staff, and community members that attended the forums during the interview process. Ralston stated that Dr. McCarty seemed to be the best fit for the district.
