Garden City Public Schools - Quality Learning-Responsible Citizens

The Garden City Public Schools Board of Education has approved an updated 2025-2026 school calendar at their February 17^th meeting.  A morning session of school will be held for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.  The first day of school for all students is Thursday, August 14, 2025.

The calendar was approved due to the alignment of Spring Break with the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) and the Kansas Board of Regents recommendations. Spring Break will now take place during the week of March 16^th instead of the week of March 9^th, which would line up with colleges, universities, and school districts throughout the state.  As a result of that change, the in-service day originally scheduled for March 20^th has been moved to March 13^th and will be a Teacher Release in-service day.

Some key dates on the calendar include:

• August 6^th – 8^th – Orientation for new teachers

• August 11^th – Inservice for all teachers

• August 12^th – Workday for all teachers

• August 13^th – Morning class only for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district, teacher workday in the afternoon

• August 14^th – First full day of school for all students

• September 1^st – Labor Day observed no school

• September 25^th and 26^th – Teacher inservice

• October 17^th – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon

• October 23^rd and 24^th – Parent Teacher Conferences

• November 24^th – 28^th  – Fall vacation

• December 22^nd – January 2^nd – Winter vacation: school is not in session

• January 5^th – New teacher workday

• January 6^th – Teacher inservice

• January 7^th – School resumes

• January 30^th – New teacher inservice

• February 20^th – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon

• February 26^th and 27^th – Parent Teacher Conferences

• March 13^th – Teacher release inservice

• March 16^th – 20^th – Spring Break

• April 3rd – New teacher inservice

• April 6^th – Teacher inservice

• May 16^th – Graduation weekend

• May 21^st – Last day of school

• May 22^nd – Teacher workday in the morning
