Garden City Public Schools Board of Education met during a regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, March 27, 2025. The meeting was held at the Educational Support Center Board Room, 1205 Fleming Street.
The Board approved the following items during the meeting. They include minutes of the March 3, 2025, regular meeting and minutes of the March 12, 2025, special meeting. Accounts Payable with all major accounts containing adequate balances to meet current obligations. Personnel certified and classified actions. Curriculum Council items including: GCHS: Business Law, GCHS: Practical Law, and GCHS: Tech Drafting S2. Training Products and Services quote from AVID Center for $127,452.00 for September 25th and 26th, 2025. Parents as Teachers Training Reimbursement Agreement. Student Services Cooperative Agreement between the Board of Trustees of Garden City Community College and the district for a period of one year, beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. Partnership Agreement between the district and Jobs for America’s Graduates – Kansas (JAG-K) for the 2025-2026 school year.
Under new business, the Board approved a change order for flooring in the Abe Hubert Elementary School Library and Vocal Room for $37,130.56 from Star Commercial Flooring. Approved a re-roofing project bid for Garfield Early Childhood Center. Approved HVAC upgrades at Horace Good Middle School.
The Board held two executive sessions after the completion of all other business. The first executive session was for preliminary discussion relating to the acquisition of real property. The second executive session was for personnel matters for non-elected personnel. No action was taken after the executive sessions.
The next meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the Educational Support Center, 1205 Fleming Street.
