The Public Service Academy at Garden City High School is this week's Superintendent's School of the Week. Here are some things to know about Associate Principal Whitney Linenberger:
How long have you been the principal at your current school?
“This is my first year as the associate principal of the Public Service Academy.”
What led you to teaching and what prompted your decision to become a principal?
“I always knew I wanted to be a teacher -- probably because my mom and aunt are teachers. I loved playing school when I was little. After spending 10 years in the classroom, I was ready for a new challenge. I enjoy working in leadership roles and knew I wanted to continue in education, so becoming a principal seemed like a natural progression.”
Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by?
"Do small things with great love" - Mother Teresa
“I believe the world is made better through small acts of kindness every day. As one person I can only do so much, but I know I can do small things everyday to make sure my impact is a positive one.”
What makes a ‘good day’ at school?
“A good day at school for me means that I was able to visit classrooms and see my teachers engaging students in relevant lessons. I also enjoy the days where I am able to sit down with a staff member or student and just touch base with them to see how things are going. I have learned so much this year from my students and staff.”
Where did you work in the summers/during college?
“I worked at Beeler Co-op during wheat harvest.”
