Due to inclement weather, there will be no school for Garden City Public Schools on Thursday, February 16.
There will be no school Friday, February 17 for all students. Classes resume Monday, February 20.
Congratulations to GCHS senior Isabel Zamarripa, editor-in-chief of the Sugar Beet school newspaper. She has been awarded a full-ride scholarship to the KU School of Journalism.
The GCHS Counselors are hosting Snacks and Apps this Friday at 1:00pm. Counselors will assist seniors in applying for scholarships to support their continuing education after high school. Snacks will be provided during the event.

How long have you been the principal at your current school?
Ms. Ricks: “This is my 4th year as principal plus I was TOSA here the year before I started as principal.”
Ms. Miller: “This is my second year at CSIC.”
What are your hobbies or how do you spend your days off?
Ms. R: “Painting and reading.”
Ms. M: “I like to read and do woodworking crafts.”
Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by?
Ms. R: “Don't let the devil steal your joy.”
Ms. M: “Problems are just puzzles waiting to be solved.”
How do you show your school spirit?
Ms. R: “So many ways – merchandise, spirit days, I sing my staff and students' praises to anyone who will listen.”
Ms. M: “I make it a habit to smile and say hello to as many people as I can in the hallways all day long.”
What accomplishments fill you with pride so far this year?
Ms. R: “The amount of success students are seeing as we focus on our wildly important goals.”
Ms. M: “We have a great staff and group of students that are willing to try new things to make progress in many areas.”

The GCHS Modern Show Choir visited high school classrooms today to provide singing valentines to students and staff. The choir will perform their singing valentine services tomorrow around the community. The singing valentines come with a serenade, a rose and a personalized card.
The GCHS counselors are working with sophomores this week on their course selection for the 2023-24 school year. Counselors will be working with juniors next week and current Freshman the last week of February.
