The Garden City High School Music Department received word that the Garden City High School Chorale was selected to perform during the 2026 Kansas Music Educators Association in-service weekend. Josh Guymon, USD 457 Interim-Superintendent, stopped by the Test Drive a Bus event held on Saturday. He tried his skills at driving a school bus through a course at the Garden City High School student parking lot.
The Garden City High School JROTC Raiders conditioning training camp continues this week. Cadets are working at a number of stations for physical conditioning. The training camp helps the Raider team get prepared for the 2025 season.

Families around the community are picking up backpacks filled with school supplies at Garfield Early Childhood Center today. Many USD 457 staff and other volunteers are busy helping students get the items they need to start the school year. If you are in need of a backpack for your child, you can stop by until 4:00 p.m.

City crews are painting the crosswalks around the community to get ready for the start of the school year.
The first day of the 2025-26 school year is Wednesday, August 13th. All elementary (Kindergarten-5th), 7th, 9th, and 10th grade students, as well as any student new to the district will begin with a half day. The Kansas Highway Patrol inspected USD 457 school buses Wednesday morning. Every school bus must pass inspection before the district can use them to transport students. This is the fourth year in a row that the district received a 100% on the vehicles.
Garden City Public Schools will hold a Job Fair on Saturday, July 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Point in the Commons Area at Garden City High School, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd.

Garden City High School is conducting a band camp this week preparing students for the upcoming marching season. The camp is focused on marching and musicianship and will help the students learn the music and drills for the coming school year.
