The offices and facilities at Garden City Public Schools will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. The school district will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
The last day of school for Garden City Public Schools will be Thursday, May 22, 2025. This will be a full day of school for students with normal starting and ending times. School will be out for the summer break at the end of the school day.

There will be a GCHS Performing Arts trip in May 2026. This is open to students who will be enrolled in a performing arts class (Choir, Band, Orchestra, Theatre) during the 2025-26 school year. An informational meeting will be held Friday May 23, 7:00PM. in the auditorium.
Garden City Public Schools Summer Food Service program will run June 2 – 26 to provide meals to children at locations around the community. A Kick-off BBQ will be from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 23 at the Educational Support Center. www.gckschools.com/article/2222606

Plymell Elementary was recently recognized as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. This achievement is awarded to schools that produce outstanding results by implementing the Leader in Me process with fidelity and excellence. The school district will hold a reception for Dr. Mike Dominguez on Thursday, May 15 from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the Educational Support Center to honor his years with the school district.

This afternoon, a mechanical issue occurred with one of the HVAC units at Garfield Early Childhood Center. The Garden City Fire Department was promptly notified and responded. The situation has been fully resolved, and all students are safe.
